Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-07-04.

GridBreathe is an app showing day-ahead electricity prices for your market zone, with optional push notifications when prices are cheapest. This page explains what data it collects and why.

Data controller

GridBreathe, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 75652404. Contact: admin@gridbreathe.com.

Cookies

Two strictly functional cookies, each valid 1 year: gb_zone (your chosen market zone) and gb_unit (€/MWh or ¢/kWh display preference). They're required for the app to work and aren't used for tracking, profiling or advertising. Under ePrivacy Directive Art. 5(3), strictly necessary cookies like these don't require consent — only disclosure.

Data stored only on your device

Your zone, country, language and notification preferences are saved locally in your browser (IndexedDB, via localforage) and never leave your device except where noted below. A random, non-identifying device ID is also stored locally to link push-notification subscriptions to your device.

Push notifications (opt-in)

If you allow notifications, the server stores — keyed to your device ID only — your Web Push subscription (technical delivery endpoint and encryption keys, per the W3C Web Push standard), your zone, language, and alert preference. No name, email or other personal identifier is requested or stored. Delivery goes through your browser's push service (Apple, Google or Mozilla, depending on your device), an inherent part of the Web Push standard. You can revoke this anytime in your browser/OS settings or in the app.

Location (opt-in)

If you allow location access during onboarding, your coordinates are sent once to our server to determine your market zone, and are not stored — the endpoint responds and immediately discards them.

Hosting logs

Like any website, our hosting providers log basic technical data (IP address, user agent, timestamps) for security and operation. GridBreathe runs on Cloudflare (CDN, static hosting) and Render (backend). Neither log is used by us for profiling.

Advertising and analytics

GridBreathe does not currently run any analytics or advertising, and doesn't use third-party fonts or libraries (everything is self-hosted, precisely to avoid leaking your IP to third parties on page load). If that changes in the future — for example, if ads are introduced to support the project — this policy will be updated first to describe what's added and why.

Your rights

You can clear cookies and local data anytime from your browser, revoke notification/location permissions anytime, or uninstall the app to remove all local traces. Under GDPR you also have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or port data we hold about you — contact us at the address above for anything stored server-side (your push subscription).

No profiling

GridBreathe does not profile users or make automated decisions that affect you.

Changes to this policy

The "last updated" date above will change whenever this policy is revised; significant changes will also be flagged in-app.
